Spanish Super Cup: Ronaldo Sees Red As Real Madrid Beat Barcelona

Real Madrid took a comfortable lead into next week’s second leg as Los Blancos defeated Barcelona 3-1 at the Camp Nou.

Gerard Pique would score an own goal for Madrid’s first after sliding in Marcelo’s cross into the back of his own net. 

Lionel Messi would grab Barca’s equalizer from the spot after the referee had controversially awarded Luis Suarez was adjudged to have been felled in the box.

Cristiano Ronaldo would not be left out of the party. The Portuguese forward would score a beautiful golazo running all the way from halfway before smashing his effort home. He would be shown a yellow card for taking off his shirt to celebrate, a card which would later come back to hunt him.

Ronaldo was then shown a second yellow card for diving. The incensed player who felt he should have had a penalty after being brought down by Samuel Umtiti was caught shoving the referee in the back after being shown a red card. It is expected his actions could cost him a hefty fine and lengthy suspension.

Marco Asensio would then score an excellent third to put game to bed.

Real Madrid host Barcelona in the second leg of the Super Cup on Wednesday.
