The notorious criminal and members of his gang who specializes in kidnapping, killing and armed robbery along the Ahoada axis of the East West road were killed during the weekend in Ahoada.
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police FRANCIS ODESANYA while displaying the bodies of the criminals said they were killed during a gun battle with the police after the gang tried to hijack an eighteen seater commercial bus with passengers on Saturday night along Ihuike community.
The Commission of Police, represented by the command’s public relations officer OMONI NNAMDI said members of the gang were declared wanted three weeks ago after they kidnapped fourteen passengers who were traveling from OMOKU to Port Harcourt.
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police Francis Odesanya also told journalists that three passengers of the eighteen seater bus lost their lives in an accident while trying to escape from the kidnappers.
Our correspondent reports that four AK 47 riffle, thirty thousand rounds ammunition, two military face caps and one pistol were recovered from the notorious gang.
In the meantime, the Chairman Caretaker Committee of Ahoada East Local Government Britain Ewhor has commended officers and men of the Rivers State Police Command for its gallant effort in tracking down notorious criminal gangs who have been terrorizing the area.
The CTC Chairman of Ahoada East in a chat with our correspondent said the people of Ahoada and motorists plying the Ahoada East section of the East West road can now heave a sigh of relief following the killing of six members of a notorious criminal gang in the area by the police.
Britain Ewhor thanked the Governor Nyesom Wike for his support to the Rivers State Police Command in the fight against crime.
Meanwhile, a paramount ruler of Ahoada , Eze Godspower Okorobia, says the notorious gang has killed over 300 persons in Ekpeyeland in the past two years.
The paramount ruler while reacting to the killing of the six member gang members, said the same group attacked and killed two of his security officials and burnt houses and officials cars belonging to chiefs in Ahoada two weeks ago.
He said the people of Ekpeyeland are now jubilating over the killing of the six notorious gang members.
