Niger Delta Elders ease tension

Niger Delta Elders led by Ijaw National Leader  Chief Edwin Clark’s intervention has eased tension between militants and the federal government.
Clark intervened by convening a one day consultative stakeholders meeting with monarchs, elders and leaders of Niger Delta coastal states.
This convention has led to ceasefire from four militant groups including the Niger Delta Avengers who promised to continue to fight “if this opportunity fails” as spoken by their spokesperson, self styled Brig Gen Mudoch Abinibo
However, two militant groups, the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) and Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate rejected the involvement of the elders and the outcome of their meeting.
