The remark was made at the State House in Abuja while holding a high-level meeting with leaders and other stakeholders from the Niger Delta region.
Buhari made the remark after he had urged the leaders of the coastal region to embrace peace – which he said is critical to the development of region.
He added that it was imperative for the leaders to unite and seek ways of ending the militancy and the sabotage of oil infrastructure in the zone.
The president however stated that anyone who had another country apart from Nigeria was free to leave the country.
“We are determined to make life comfortable and affordable to all Nigerians. If anybody has a country to go to, let him go, we will stay here and salvage our country,” Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, quoted Buhari as saying.
He noted that Buhari had a vision of unity and progress for the country in which peace reigns and said peace, security, investment and prosperity are linked together.
“If we give peace a chance, investors will come here to invest. Nobody will invest in an insecure environment,” the president was said to have also noted.
