The federal government has identified about 59 people who may have had direct contact with lassa fever victims in Anambra and Delta State.
The National Coordinator of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control Dr Chike Ihekweazu said a 54 year old man had come to the Nnnamdi Azikiwe Teaching hospital in Anambra state was confirmed to have the disease and died the following day.
The 59 persons who may have had direct contact with the disease are currently been monitored for symptoms of the disease.
He also said “The NCDC will continue to keep all our channels of communication open for information, verification and reporting on Lassa fever and other disease emergencies.
