INEC Declares Godwin Obaseki Winner Of Edo State Election

Following the collation of results from the 18 local areas of in south-south Nigeria, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (), polled a total of 319,483 votes, while his closest rival from the Peoples Democratic Party (), Osagie Ize-Iyamu, polled 253,173 votes.

Mr. Obaseki won majority votes in 13 of the 18 local governments in the state – he won in Akoko-Edo LGA, Ikpoba-Okha, Etsako West, Etsako East, Etsako Cenral, Owan East LGA, Ovia North LGA, Oredo LGA, Uhunwomnde, Igueben LGA, Egor LGA, Owan West LGA.

While the PDP won in Esan North Central, Esan West LGA, Orhionmwon LGA, Esan South East LGA, Esan North East LGA.

Meanwhile, the PDP in the state has rejected the results, saying it was manipulated.

“If you go by the results that were announced at the polling units and wards across the state, it shows the PDP would have won by over 30,000 votes,†said Dan Orbih, the party’s state chairman in a press conference.

“What is announcing is clearly different from what we got from our agents and independent observers in the 192 wards and over 2,000 units across the state.â€

Also, PDP’s agent, Chris Agbonwanegbe, refused to sign the result sheet, saying it was “rehearsed and producedâ€.
