Game of Thrones’ Triumphs at 2016 Emmys
History was made at the 68th Annual Emmy Awards when Game of Thrones was honored with 12 awards, bringing its total Emmy tally to 38 – the most of any fictional series.
In addition to its achievement as this year’s Outstanding Drama Series, creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss took home the prize in writing for the show’s ninth episode, “Battle of the Bastards.” The episode garnered Miguel Sapochnik his own Emmy for Outstanding Directing, as well.
The series also received Creative Emmys for casting, costumes, editing, production design, makeup, prosthetics, sound mixing, special visual effects and stunt coordination.
