Emafolomi was apprehended on Sunday at his resident on Olokosusi Street, Java Agbado in Ifo Local Government Area of the state, following a complaint from his wife – the mother of the impregnated teen.
It was gathered that the suspect allegedly raped the victim on two occasions in October, threatening to kill her if she informed her mother.
Narrating the rape ordeal, the 15-year-old girl said, “That afternoon, he was drunk. He beat me up when I resisted. I explained to him that he was like a father to me, but he didn’t listen. He used a pillow to cover my mouth and raped me. He said he would kill me if I told my mother about the rape.
“Two days after, he had sex with me again. That evening, he beat me up because I insisted that I would tell my mother when she came back from work. He went out and came back with two men after about 30 minutes. The men stared at me and left. He said they would be monitoring my movement and that if I reveal what he did to me, they would kill me.â€
Confirming the incident, in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said:
“The mother, Taiwo Emafolomi, who noticed that her daughter is pregnant, pressurised the girl and she eventually opened up to her mother about how her step-father had been making love, which resulted in the pregnancy.
“The DPO, Agbado Division, CSP Abioye Shittu, detailed detectives to get the man arrested after a pregnancy test had been conducted on the girl, which came out positive.
“The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered that the case be transferred to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the Criminal Investigation and Intelligent Department, CIID, for further investigation.â€
